Kaliopi Vasiliou, Esq.

Ms. Vasiliou possesses over 20 years of work and study experience in a variety of areas in the criminal justice system. Her extensive, multifaceted knowledge–coupled with her empathetic nature–is what easily sets her above and beyond the average private attorney.

As an undergraduate, she studied Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. In conjunction with her studies, she completed her clinical externship at Bayview Correctional Facility, a NY state prison for women. There, her focus was to counsel women who were nearing the end of their prison sentence, with the goal to reduce their chances of recidivism. After graduating with honors, in 2007, she worked full-time as a court liaison for a state-accredited alternative to incarceration programs.

In 2009, she decided to go to law school and received her Juris Doctorate from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2012 and was admitted to the NYS bar in 2013. Immediately upon her admission to law school, she embarked on her path to become a successful private litigator in both, criminal defense, and wills, trusts, and estate planning.

During law school, she focused her studies on New York’s Criminal Procedure laws, and Estates, Powers, and Trusts laws while simultaneously completing a three-year apprenticeship under the supervision of her future, in-house counsel, attorney Anastasios Sarikas. To further hone her defense and trial skills, she attended the National Criminal Defense College’s Deryl Dantzler Trial Practice Institute–an intensive and transformative training program for trial lawyers–and received her certificate in 2014.

From apprentice to practitioner, she and Anastasios Sarikas, together, went on to successfully counsel and represent countless families and individuals facing legal problems in the areas of Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Wills, Trust, and Estates Law. Collectively, she has successfully represented hundreds of individuals involved either in a criminal prosecution, family court matter, or estate proceedings, including dozens of which went to trial and resulted in a not guilty verdict.
